If you seek the path of science, you will probably find and understand many hidden truths and technologies that can peek into people's daily lives. This does not mean that these technologies will be used or applied to everyone's daily life. The things you understand are just knowledge that we should be aware of. You might doubt whether this knowledge is being misused. In my opinion, most of the time it is not misused because, in this world, not only science but also God and good people exist. If you act against their opinion and goodwill, there can be serious consequences to the action.
In conflicts between countries and between people, science sometimes becomes the scapegoat, so we should be aware of scientific truths. Most of the time, science is used for doing good things, but science has limitations that we should certainly know. Blindly believing that science can do anything is foolishness.
If you ask whether money influences scientific research, it is a tough question. Research needs money; governments in countries invest money in research, and so do private institutions.
For long-term benefit, it is better to have a society that encourages scientific research, but I wouldn't say that someone should become a scapegoat for that. If somebody is not interested in being part of any research, people should have the freedom and right to be excluded from the research.
